IN MEMORY OF CHARLOTTE FIGI OUR INSPIRATION
(Source: CNN) Charlotte Figi, a child with a catastrophic type of epilepsy who went on to inspire a CBD movement, sadly, passed away on April 7, 2020, at age 13. Charlotte had Dravet syndrome, a rare form of epilepsy which was not controlled by medication. The Stanley brothers, marijuana growers in Colorado, were crossbreeding a strain of marijuana high in CBD and low in THC, its psychoactive ingredient. After Charlotte began taking the CBD oil, there was a sharp decline in her seizures. She began to play, eat and make connections like she hadn't before.

How Charlotte's story inspired us:
We came across Charlotte's amazing story while researching alternatives to traditional drug therapy when our own granddaughter Jaya, then 3 years old, was diagnosed with a mild seizure disorder. After several conversations with Jaya's neurologist and his initial apprehension about CBD, he finally gave us the "ok" to try high quality CBD along with her prescription seizure medication since she had continued to experience occasional breakthrough seizures. Although her condition was not as serious as Charlotte's, we were deeply concerned not only about the disorder and the possibility that it might get worse, but the possible side effects of the prescribed medication. Now, three years later, we are grateful to report that Jaya's seizures are well controlled and practically nonexistent with CBD and the lowest possible dose of prescription meds. We continue to progress cautiously and under the supervision of Jaya's neurologist and hope to achieve an all natural/CBD only therapy to prevent future seizures.
